Wheelchair transport

Taxi Zwart is also the right choice for wheelchair transport. Taxi Zwart has several minivans that have been specially converted to carry wheelchair users.

Our drivers are trained in accordance with the TX-Keur specifications and have also passed the CCV exam Target-group transport. Wheelchair users are transported in accordance with the Code VVR (Safe Transport of Wheelchair Occupants).

The wheelchair vans of Taxi Zwart are fitted with Tribus securing systems. This flexible system makes it possible to safely transport the vast majority of wheelchairs, and to switch easily between an 8-seater minivan and a wheelchair van.

The wheelchair vans are equipped to carry up to 2 or 4 wheelchair occupants at the same time.

For all wheelchairs, the driver ultimately decides whether the wheelchair can be secured properly and safely. Many electric wheelchairs have special anchoring points for securing them during transport.

Different rules apply to mobility scooters. Under the Code VVR, these fall into the category 'Cannot be transported safely' because of their weak frame construction.

A mobility scooter can only be taken along as luggage. This means that you cannot remain seated on the scooter but must use a regular seat. Please state clearly when booking that you would like to take a mobility scooter with you.

Important news for customers using wheelchair transport

Hook symbol for wheelchair securing

The revised Code VVR came into force on 1 January 2022. This means that the wheelchair must meet the internationally recognised standard ISO 7176-19.

This concerns a wheelchair that has successfully passed a crash test. A crash-tested wheelchair can be recognised by the hook symbol stickers at the anchoring points. In addition, the manual and/or the frame states that the wheelchair has been crash-tested in accordance with ISO 7176-19.

These hook symbol stickers must always be present, so that drivers can secure the wheelchair correctly and safely.

You can download the full Code VVR (in Dutch) from Sociaal Fonds Mobiliteit or by clicking here.

If your wheelchair does not comply with the Code VVR as of 1 January 2022, we are unfortunately unable to transport you.

For more information about the safe transport of wheelchairs, please refer to the Code VVR.
